Wong Kar Wai's best movie. The colors, the cinematography, the casting, the pace is intense. Some people think it's boring—the first time through, don't focus too much on the plot and enjoy the ride.

The genius of Apocalypse Now is that the movie itself captures the confusion, the over-stimulation, the anarchy, the horror of the Vietnam War. The movie demonstrates that America's arrogance led us into Vietnam, but it was the universal failings of humans that had us lose.

Damn good costuming, but somehow Daniel Day-Lewis isn't charismatic enough to be Newland Archer. His character's supposed to be an apparently straight-set lawyer secretly urging for real emotion, thought, and all that, but the way he plays Archer it's a little hard to believe.

Despite the fact that it's "2019" or whatever, this movie's current-day product placement was through the roof. Apple Cinema Displays, Puma sneakers, Johnny Rockets', Aquafina water dispensers, MSN Search, a Chevy SSR truck, XBOX… fighting ring thing… I mean, seriously, they'll make a nice futuristic hovering Amtrak train and then they'll have a 2005 Mazda RX-8 drive by. It's just dumb. (Also, they say "run" a lot.)
